Swelling or edema.

Read our blog on how to prepare so you get the best massage experience possible.
Plan to arrive about 5 minutes early to your scheduled appointment so that you have time to use the restroom, drink some water/tea or relax in our waiting area. The therapist will bring you back to the room, and they will provide a short consultation asking about any areas of pain or tension, preference of pressure, and any medical conditions they may need to know about. They will then leave the room as you undress and lie comfortably on the massage table, under the sheets/blanket.
For more information about what to expect during your appointment, please read our blog.
You may undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others choose to be nude. Your massage therapist will leave the room so you can undress and lie on the massage table under a top sheet. Regardless if you choose to maintain some clothing or not, your massage therapist will always ensure that you are always properly covered.
If the pressure is too light or too deep, we want you to notify your therapist so that they can adjust their technique and pressure accordingly. Massage therapy is meant to be a personalized experience, and what works for one person may not work for another. Don't be afraid to speak up and communicate your needs and preferences to your therapist, as it can help ensure that you receive the best possible treatment!
You will experience the greatest benefits from your session if you just allow yourself to become quiet and relaxed. This way you can tune into your body and allow the healing to happen from within. It will also help your massage therapist to focus on providing an exceptional massage!
Definitely communicate with your therapist if you feel any pain or discomfort, if you have any concerns during your massage, or if there is anything your massage therapist can do to make you more comfortable; pressure, speed, rhythm, temperature, etc.
It’s best to give yourself additional time after your massage to continue relaxing, and to allow your body to fully absorb the benefits of massage. We leave plenty of time in between appointments so that you never feel hurried, and can take your time before you head out the door. Plus, DRINK PLENTY OF WATER to rehydrate your body after a massage! It helps to flush out toxins that were released from the muscle tissue, helps reduce soreness, and enhances the benefits of massage by replenishing the body to help with the healing and recovery of your muscles. Read more on our blog on why it's beneficial to hydrate after a massage.
We recommend giving your body some time to recover and heal after the massage especially if you received a deep tissue massage.
